We are promoting the Air Quality Health Index to those most vulnerable to the negative affects for air pollution by partnering with other health and environment organizations.

Thompson Rivers University Mobile Respiratory Health Program

Air Health BC has partnered with the Thompson Rivers University Mobile Respiratory Health program – which travels the province promoting lung health issues at community events – to introduce the Air Quality Health Index to people most at risk to poor air quality. The mobile unit will be visiting several events between June and September 2010. A full schedule with maps is listed below.

UBC School of Environmental Health and Health Canada have developed a free online, on demand course titled Outdoor Air Quality and Health and the Air Quality Health Index targeted to health professionals. Health Canada estimates that 6,000 premature deaths per year in Canada are caused by air pollution. As well, many common respiratory conditions are exacerbated by poor air quality.
